Two is better than one when it comes to a breast lift and a breast augmentation that can be added together to become an augmentation mastoplexy, or breast augmentation with lift. Combining these two procedures allows women to improve their breasts’ projection, size, shape, and placement for complete enhancement. This procedure is often a popular addition to a Mommy Makeover, especially for women who have lost volume and skin elasticity due to pregnancy and breastfeeding.
What Is a Breast Augmentation with Lift?
It combines two procedures: breast augmentation and breast lift surgery. While a breast augmentation increases the size, fullness, and volume of the breast through the insertion of breast implants, a breast lift repositions the breasts to a higher placement on the chest while removing excess skin that causes sagging, known as ptosis. It will also raise the position of the nipple-areolar complex, center it on the new and better projected breast mound, as well as reducing its often larger than ideal diameter. The nipple-areolar complex is made up of both the nipple and the surrounding darker skin.
A breast augmentation with lift provides the complete benefits of both procedures: lift, fullness, shape, and volume, all in one procedure.
As we age, or due to changes caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations, the breasts can lose volume or become stretched and misshapen. Combining two effective techniques in one surgery restores the breasts to their youthful, perky appearance while providing a fuller, more feminine contour with implants.

What Can a Breast Augmentation with Lift Correct?
Sagging, drooping, and deflated breasts can be restored for a complete rejuvenation. After this procedure, patients can expect lifted, more voluminous, and more symmetrical breasts.
A breast augmentation with lift can:
- Restore fullness to deflated breasts
- Lift and reposition the breasts higher on the chest
- Remove excess skin that causes sagging
- Establish a more rounded, feminine profile
- Reposition the nipple-areolar complex to a youthful location on the breast
Breast Augmentation with Lift Procedure
For this procedure, Dr. Aly will utilize a breast lift incision, depending on the revision necessary to address the specific degree of ptosis. The incision type may be:
- Crescent—for very slight sagging, with an incision above the top of the nipple
- Benelli—for minimal sagging and slight nipple asymmetry, with an incision around the nipple-areolar complex.
- Lollipop—for moderate sagging and low nipple-areolar complexes, the incision encircles the nipple-areolar complex and descends vertically toward the breast line.
- Anchor—for severely sagging, pendulous breasts, the incision encircles the nipple-areolar complex, extends vertically toward the crease under the breasts, and runs horizontally along the breast crease.
Once the incisions are made, Dr. Aly will place the breast implants, tightening tissue around them. Excess skin and tissue are removed as part of the lift, while the nipple-areolar complex can be repositioned depending on the amount of ptosis. Dr. Aly will carefully close the incisions once the implants are in place and the breasts are lifted.
How Long Does Breast Augmentation with Lift Take?
The length of breast augmentation with lift procedures depends on the amount of revision necessary, as well as the patient’s specific treatment plan. Generally, the surgery takes around 2-3 hours.
Is Breast Augmentation with Lift Painful?
Because it is performed under general anesthesia, the process ensures you will not feel any pain or discomfort during surgery. Soreness and some pain are expected during the first few days. Dr. Aly utilizes a pain control regimen which either avoids narcotics altogether or minimizes their use significantly, but leaves the patients with overall minimal pain.
A surgical bra may be necessary to help support your breasts as they heal. It may also help with discomfort and the reduction of swelling.
How Long Is Breast Augmentation with Lift Recovery?
Most patients need one week of downtime but can return to work afterward. Generally, it takes two to three weeks for swelling and bruising to subside. At that point, you will begin to regain mobility and have less discomfort. Dr. Aly will provide specific instructions on aftercare for a breast augmentation with lift.
Dr. Aly will provide more detailed, customized information about your expected recovery time and process during your consultation and follow-up appointments.
